Post by Bishop Laptev, September 9, 2021:
Lately, in spite of the pandemic, the Lord has given me several opportunities to visit the congregations of our Uralic Deanery. It’s a vibrant part of our Church as it has new congregations in Izhevsk and Kirov and is seeing ministry starting in Ufa, Bashkortostan. Soon, if the Lord wills and we live, we plan to start ministry again in Yekaterinburg, the capital of the Uralic region. Our churches in Saransk, Mordovia; Kazan, Tatarstan; and Cheboksary, Chuvashia are active in evangelism inviting people to concerts of sacred music, film shows, and the Basics of Christian Faith course. The church in Cheboksary is opening a social care center. The church in Kirov has a new catechist, Ivan Ryasik, who is a student at the ELCIR Theological Institute. Church member Konstantin Kulalayev from Yoshkar-Ola, Mari El, continues his studies on the intramural bachelor’s program. The church of Yoshkar-Ola, Mari El, and the church of Birsk, Bashkortostan, regularly host meetings of the deanery’s servants as well as family, children & youth, and mission programs. Dean Konstantin Subbotin is finishing his master of theology program from Gothenburg, Sweden. Please join me in my prayers for the Uralic Deanery!
