Ivan Sergeyevich Laptev, Bishop of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria in Russia, was born in the village of Zanevka, Vsevolozhsky District, Leningrad Oblast, Russia, on April 1, 1979. Baptized in infancy.
2000 – called by the ELCIR congregation in Koltushi into the service of catechizer.
2004 – ordained as a deacon.
2011 – ordained as a pastor.
2011 – graduated from the Bachelor’s program at ELCIR Theological Institute
2013 – Master’s degree from ELCIR Theological Institute.
2012 to 2016 – head of the Mission Office of The Church of Ingria, later the chairman of the Mission Committee of The Church of Ingria.
Since the fall of 2013 – senior pastor of the congregation in Gubanitsy.
Since 2015 – rector of ELCIR Theological Institute.
Is one of the authors of the Ministry Strategy of The Church of Ingria from 2017 to 2025.
October 19, 2019 – elected Bishop of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria in Russia.
On February 9, 2020, in St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Petersburg, he was ordained into the ministry of bishop by Bishop Arri Kugappi of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria, Archbishop Jānis Vanags of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia, Bishop Vsevolod Lytkin of The Siberian Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bishop Tiit Salumäe of the Western and Northern Regions of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Estonia, Bishop Seppo Häkkinen of the Mikkeli Diocese of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, and Rev. Mikhail Ivanov, General Secretary of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria.
Has an award diploma from the Governor, “For a Great Personal Contribution to the Unity of Ethnic Groups in the Leningrad Oblast.”
Bishop Laptev is married. He and his wife Irina have two daughters and two sons.
