On May 15, 2021, volunteers from Velmema Lutheran Church in Saransk, Mordovia, visited the Nursing Home for Old and Disabled People in Staroye Shaygovo.
Many of the home’s residents are Mokshas, members of a Mordvinian ethnic group who live compactly in Staroshaygovsky District, Mordovia. The volunteers gave the old ladies and gentlemen New Testaments in Mokshan and Russian, sweets, dressing gowns and shirts, sanitizers, and facemasks as part of a project in collaboration with the Lutheran World Federation. They also performed a short concert.
