Intercultural/interreligious dialog is an important focus in Leningrad Oblast and its Vsevolozhsky District in particular. Yuri Palamarchuk, chairman of the Council for Interethnic Cooperation under the Administration of Vsevolozhsky Municipal District and head of Shcheglovo, a village in the region, is a dynamic person. It was his initiative to create a People’s Ecological University in Shcheglovo for people of different generations, religious faiths, and walks of life to come together in informal contact, which was the reason the university’s opening ceremony on April 2, 2021, was attended by religious leaders. Bishop Laptev represented The Church of Ingria. In addition to educational work, the university plans to do charity projects and facilitate volunteer activities.
