On January 24, 2021, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Gatchina, Leningrad Oblast, hosted activities in connection with the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
This year, the texts and devotions to be used around the world were prepared by the ecumenical monastic community of women in Grandchamp, Switzerland. The participants of the meeting in Gatchina also sang songs of the ecumenical community of Taizé which regularly organizes youth meetings in different European cities.
Around 25 people joined together in prayer in Gatchina. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria was represented by Rev. Viktor Vorontsov, senior pastor of St. Nicholas’ Lutheran Church, and Rev. Roman Pavlov, senior pastor of Skvoritsy Parish in Petrovo, Leningrad Oblast. Fr. Aleskandr Asonov, the public relations representative of the Gatchina Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church and senior priest of All Saints’ Orthodox Parish, spoke a word of greeting to the assembly.
The meeting continued with a buffet and brotherly conversation.
