The ELCIR Synodal Council passed a decision in December 2020 to form a new Southern Deanery of The ELCIR.On January 23, 2021, lay representatives and clergymen from the congregations in the newly-established Southern Deanery met in Voronezh in the city’s Roman Catholic church. The meeting opened with a worship service celebrated by Bishop Ivan Laptev, Southern Region Dean Valeri Antipov, and Missionary Pastor Leif Camp.
After tea and informal conversation, the participants discussed further development of the deanery, church education, interaction between the congregations, and plans for this coming spring and summer.
