On August 22, 2020, the education center in Kudrovo, Leningrad Oblast, hosted a field hockey tournament as part of the Summer Festival of Ethnic and Street Sports.

 

The competition was organized by the Administration of the Governor of Leningrad Oblast and the Oblast Committee for Local Self-Government and Interethnic & Interreligious Relationships.

 

The ELCIR team called Severnaya rys (“The Northern Lynx”) played in the youth system, which, however, did not hinder it from winning 2nd place. The other competitors were the team of the Tikhvin Diocese of The Russian Orthodox Church, the team of Sosnovy bor, and the House of Friendship interethnic team from St. Petersburg.

 

The youths of Severnaya rys headed by Dmitri Glechikov and Aleksandr Protasov demonstrated their prowess winning 3-0 against Sosnovy bor. This was followed by a draw with House of Friendship, where each team scored one goal.

 

The Church of Ingria team lost only to Tikhvin Diocese with a score of 2-3. House of Friendship placed third. Organizers Igor Solovyov and Maksim Alyoshin handed prize cups to the winners during a formal award ceremony.

 

The event included artist performances. After the competition, the athletes refreshed themselves during a dinner party where they could share their impressions of the game.
