On November 2, 2025, a solemn worship service was held at the St. John the Baptist congregation in St. Petersburg, dedicated to Reformation Day and the celebration of the parish’s 20th anniversary.
Particularly joyous was the large number of guests who, over the years, had built the community and actively participated in its life. Those who had served and are serving, those who were and are parishioners, and those who were confirmed—a true church family had gathered. Among the guests were bishop-emeritus Arri Kugappi with his wife Alina, and pastor Petteri Mannermaa with his wife Anu. The congregation was also congratulated by one of its first senior pastors – Alexander von Schmidt, and the Finnish missionary society “Kylväjä” (“The Sower”). After the service, a festive lunch was served, featuring traditional dishes of Jewish cuisine. The distinct feature of the congregation is that it was founded for the Jews.
