John Amos Comenius (1592-1670) was a Czech pedagogue and theologian. The current edition presents his early plays «Abraham the Patriarch» (translated for the first time by K. V. Sutorius, 2020) and «Diogenes the Cynic» (edited translation by G. A. Yanchevetsky, 1893). In the book Svetlana Mashevskaya and Zinaida Lurie examine Comenius’ school theatre. There is also an Appendix with Olga Rudaya’s text of the Bible study based on the play «Abraham the Patriarch» – this is like an «echo» of Comenius in modern church education. The publication can be of interest to historians, pedagogues, and stage managers who work with children in secular and religious schools. The book was presented on the International Fair of Non-fiction in Moscow.
