“The Sands of the Desert” retreat for young children and teenagers took place in Noviye Peski, Karelia, on July 11-12, 2024. The participants learned about what happened to Moses and the people of Israel during their 40-year-long journey. The two days were jam-packed with activities such as watching a cartoon, singing Christian hymns, reading the Bible, doing crafts, and playing a quest game. Many thanks to the ministers from Koltushi and Petrozavodsk for their invaluable assistance!From July 11-14, 2024, the Lutheran Church of Toksovo, Leningrad Oblast, held its annual children’s retreat. The topic for the four days was “The Prophet Daniel.” The program included arts & crafts, sports and theater activities introducing the kids to the biblical book of Daniel. After the Sunday divine service, the children presented a play and performed several hymns.
Another children’s program was organized at Hietamäki Lutheran Church in Innolovo, Leningrad Oblast, from July 19-21, 2024. The kids learned about the creation of the world and Jesus becoming our Savior, had craft time and played many outdoor activity games in the excellent weather. Also, they learned children’s worship hymns with the parish cantor.
