From November 7-9, 2023, ELCIR ministers gathered for a retreat with Bishop Ivan Laptev in Kudama, Karelia. The retreat was organized by Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Petrozavodsk, Karelia.The program included Bible studies taught by Bishop Laptev, prayer together and outdoor activities. The team also visited Martial Waters, Russia’s first spa resort founded by the decree of Peter the Great. The building extant from the times of the original resort is St. Peter’s Orthodox Church, 1721.
