The program started at St. Mary’s Lutheran Cathedral of St. Petersburg in the evening of August 25.
The participants and the church’s band established themselves on the front steps of the church and filled Bolshaya Konyushennaya Street in downtown St. Petersburg with music and song! Passersby stopped to listen to the Lutherans singing about Jesus!
Then the group went into the church to study Scripture with Pastor Mikhail Ivanov. After the Bible study and a pizza break, the group started off on a walk on St. Petersburg streets to St. John’s Estonian Lutheran Church of the ELCIR, a.k.a. Jaani kirik. Catechist Mikhail Pakharev guided a fascinating night tour.
Reaching Jaani kirik after midnight and welcomed by catechists Sergei Popov and Nikita Lahtinen, the young Christians gathered in the church’s worship area for prayer in candlelight!
Praised be the Lord for this wonderful time together filled with God’s Word! Many thanks for the delicious supper at Jaani kirik! Many thanks to everyone who helped organize this wonderful fest!
Soli Deo gloria!
