From August 18-20, 2023, Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Yoshkar-Ola, Mari El, hosted the annual family retreat of the ELCIR Uralic Deanery.
The topics centered around issues in the husband-and-wife relationship, discussing their spiritual and mundane causes and suggesting practical solutions. For example, the proper way to apologize, why a compromise is sometimes a bad thing, effective rules of settling conflicts, ways to strengthen trust and security in the family, e.a.
The event closed with another joyful event—the announcement of the engagement of Catechist Aleksei Mavrin of Moksha-Erzya Lutheran Church in Saransk, Mordovia, to Eliza Piskunova, member of Holy Cross Lutheran in Yoshkar-Ola.
The Sunday divine service was followed by a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Lutheran congregation of Yoshkar-Ola. The guests extended their warmest greetings and wishes to the church. A concert and a tea party followed.
