On May 13 and June 3, 2023, ELCIR volunteers traveled to Vsevolozhsk, Leningrad Oblast, to do a cleanup in an old Lutheran cemetery which turned 245 this year!
Sometimes called St. Regina Cemetery, this cemetery is 185 years older than the town of Vsevolozhsk and reflects an important part of the region’s history.
The second cleanup was organized by Aleksandr Kugappi whose great-grandmother was a parishioner at St. Regina’s Lutheran Church built in this location in 1778.
During the two servant events, the volunteers tidied up the reburial place of Yelena and Pavel Vsevolozhski, the founders of Vsevolozhsk, and the northern part of the cemetery, removing a lot of deadwood and scrub.
The two servant events received coverage in a Vsevolozhsk newspaper.
Cordial thanks to all the people who offer their time and efforts to keep this spiritual and historical place in order!
