Bishop Ivan Laptev of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria in Russia began his official visit to Serbia on December 1, 2022 at the invitation of Bishop Jaroslav Javorník of The Slovak Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Serbia.
Some of the attached photos show the bishop’s visit to the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Sava, the biggest church in Belgrade. Its main altar is dedicated to St. Sava (†1236), the first Serbian archbishop and a national hero of Serbia. The church was built on the site where the relics of St. Sava were burned by the Ottoman authorities in 1594. It’s one of the biggest Eastern Orthodox churches in the world.
