On October 26, 2022, Deacon Vladislav Golubovas represented the Lutheran Church of Pitkyaranta, Karelia, at the interfaith conference “Spiritual and Moral Values as Societal Orientation in Karelia.” The conference was sponsored by the Ministry of Ethnic and Regional Policy in the Republic of Karelia, Russian Federation, and held in Petrozavodsk. It gathered leaders of religious organizations, civic ethnic associations, and guests from Moscow and Voronezh who work to preserve items of cultural heritage.
Religious leaders discussed the current situation in the realm of local religions, religion & state relationship, revival of cultural heritage, the role of family in the spiritual and moral nurturing of children, the importance of fostering patriotism in children and youth and preventing extremism.
Religious leaders and law enforcement officers also met with students from the Institute of Economics and Law of Petrozavodsk State University. The presenters spoke about the activities and history of Eastern Orthodoxy, Protestantism, and Islam, shared about their work with young people, and answered questions.
