By invitation of the Roman Catholic archbishop Paolo Pezzi, ELCIR Bishop Ivan Laptev participated in a discussion of the synodal process in the Roman Catholic Church. From June 15-16, 2022, the Roman Catholic Theological Seminary of St. Petersburg hosted a diocesan conference—“Communion, Participation, and Mission.” Bishop Laptev shared his thoughts about the relationship of God and His elect, talked about the episcopal-synodal polity of The Church of Ingria, and shared other experience of the Ingrian Lutheran Church where appropriate.
