On April 8, 2022, Bishop Ivan Laptev of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria and Pastor Yevgeni Raskatov, head of the ELCIR Mission Department, met with Bishop Tiit Salumäe of the Western and Northern Region of The Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church. Visiting with each other at Alexander’s Lutheran Cathedral in Narva, Estonia, the ecclesiastics discussed various aspects of the two church bodies’ ministries in these difficult times. The meeting closed with a prayer for the end of the bloodshed and the establishing of peace. May the Lord help this!
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall speak peace to the nations; his rule shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.” (Zech. 9:9-10)
