Bishop Laptev leads remembrance service

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.” (2 Cor. 1:3-5, ESV)

On March 26, 2022, Bishop Laptev led the annual prayer service of remembrance on the shore of Lake Ladoga commemorating Ingrian Finns who were deported from Leningrad Oblast by the Soviet authorities eighty years ago in March 1942. By the end of March 1942, a total of 58,210 persons were deported to the Komi Republic, the Republic of Kazakhstan, Arkhangelsk Oblast, Novosibirsk Oblast, and other regions of the Soviet Union.
