A group of ELCIR church members from St. John’s Estonian Lutheran Church and St. Anne’s Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg visited Trilistnik Children’s Shelter in Kronstadt, St. Petersburg metropolitan area, on February 19, 2022.
They brought treats, gifts, clothes, and toys. They met Aleksandr Smirnov and Yelena Stoyanova running the aid center, who showed their visitors around. Trilistnik gives shelter to struggling mothers with children. Some of the mothers have had a troubled life. Their children are aged from toddler to kindergartener to schoolchild. The school kids pray the vacation ends soon and they can go to school again and don’t have to be on remote schooling. The kids enjoy doing anything from arts & crafts to cooking and cleaning. The shelter residents gave their guests handmade soap bars with the depictions of St. John’s Church, St. Anne’s Church, and the Luther Rose.
