On February 15, 2022, in Izhevsk, the capital of Udmurtia, Bishop Ivan Laptev of The Church of Ingria met with Metropolitan Victorinus of Izhevsk and Udmurtia, The Russian Orthodox Church. It was Metropolitan Victorinus’ name day and he was receiving greetings from the city’s religious associations. Metropolitan Victorinus is active in promoting interfaith cooperation, in particular, the Interfaith Spartakiad, a sports event. Senior Pastor Aleksandr Grebennikov of Christ the Savior Lutheran Church of Izhevsk was with Bishop Laptev on his visit to the metropolitan. They discussed ways to continue working together and future joint projects. One plan is hold an activity under a working title of “The Headscarf in Christian Culture” in August 2022, where people can learn about the artistic aspects of women’s headgear and reflect on its meaning in Christian piety.
After the reception with the metropolitan, Bishop Laptev visited Oleg Bekmemetyev, Head of the Municipality of Izhevsk. The bishop thanked the city head for his active assistance in interfaith projects and expressed hope for further and fruitful cooperation.
