On January 27, 2022, a delegation of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland met with Metropolitan Barsanuphius of St. Petersburg and Ladoga. The guests arrived at St. Petersburg Theological Academy for talks about organization of theological colloquies.
Participants: Bishop Seppo Häkkinen of the Diocese of Mikkeli, Finland, head of the delegation; Pastor Timo Rosqvist, Mikkeli diocese secretary; Pastor Vladimir Dorodni, senior pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Ingrian Lutheran Church in Vyborg, Russia, who served as interpreter; Ivan Sudosa, chief of the protocol department, Diocese of St. Petersburg, The Russian Orthodox Church.
As he greeted the guests, Metropolitan Barsanuphius pointed out the longstanding friendly relationship between the Russian Orthodox Diocese and traditional Lutherans in Finland. He also talked about the upcoming memorial dates in 2022: the 280th anniversary of the Diocese of St. Petersburg and 100 years since the standing for the faith when Russian Orthodox clergymen and laypeople were martyred as the Soviet authorities were dispossessing the churches of valuables in 1922.
