It was a truly blessed First Sunday in Advent on November 28, 2021 for St. Michael’s Lutheran Church of St. Petersburg as Yuliana came into full communion with the Church through the rite of confirmation!
Also, as St. Michael’s congregation is preparing to celebrate 145 years since the church’s dedication in a few weeks, the worshipers were happy to welcome for the first time in their church the descendants of Pastor Carl Johannes Masing (1811-1878), during whose pastorate St. Michael’s church was built! As three generations of the big Masing family came up front to extend greetings, the congregation couldn’t but burst into applause! The church’s pastor Rev. Dmitri Petrov gave the guests the gift of a ceramic panel depicting St. Michael’s church as a souvenir of the symbolic meeting. After the worship, the Masings were offered a tour of the church.
