On October 26, 2021, Igor Kartashov, PhD in History, coworker of the Museum of Stavropol State Medical University, visited St. Michael’s Lutheran Church of St. Petersburg. The church first came in contact with the Stavropol Center for Studies in the History of Medicine in 2019 when church member Tatiana Ryumina represented her church’s museum at a conference called “The Lessons of the Holocaust and Nazi Invasion.” In her presentation, she talked about the outstanding Russian and Soviet surgeon Wilhelm Schaack, a member of St. Michael’s Church.
This year, the Stavropol Medical University Museum is shooting a documentary about the work of Soviet medical doctors during the Nazi invasion of the Caucasus. This topic is directly related to the contribution of Wilhelm Schaack to the salvation of his colleagues. Dr. Kartashov came to St. Petersburg to do interviews with those who have something to tell about it.
St. Michael’s Church Museum would like to thank Dr. Kartashov for interviewing and for the well-organized filming process! May God bless a good result of the work!
