On August 12, 2021, St. Michael’s Lutheran Church of St. Petersburg received special guests from The Russian Orthodox Church: Bishop Silvanus of Peterhof, Rector of St. Petersburg Theological Academy, and Protopriest Konstantin Kostromin, Pro-Rector for Theological Research.
Bishop Silvanus co-chairs the Russian Orthodox Working Group for Cooperation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland.
His colleague Fr. Konstantin has authored many publications about Archbishop Mikhail Mudyugin who was confirmed in the Lutheran Church as a 17-year-old youth in the 1920’s and was later arrested for being involved in congregational youth activities. Eventually, he became a prominent figure in the Orthodox Church and was Rector of Leningrad Theological Academy in 1966-1968.
Many thanks to church member Tatiana Ryumina for guiding our guests on a tour of St. Michael’s Church!
