On Sunday, June 13, 2021, St. John’s Estonian Lutheran Church of St. Petersburg (Jaani kirik) held a remembrance service commemorating Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians, and members of other ethnic groups who were deported from their homelands during the June 1941 forced deportation by Stalinist authorities. Many of the deportees died during the relocation. Praying and lighting candles, the worshipers remembered the people who were forced to find a new home and shelter. The service was attended by the consuls of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
