Part of the seminar’s cultural program was a trip to Lovozero to see a Sámi goahti, a traditional living tent of the Sámi, an indigenous Finno-Ugric people inhabiting northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Kola Peninsula within the Murmansk Oblast of Russia. The guests learned more about the history of the Sámi and their traditions and were treated to the Sámi cuisine – reindeer meat and the Sámi deer soup. Sister Svetlana Sedneva sang part of the hymn “You Deserve The Glory” in the Sámi language.
