From April 16-18, 2021, the Lutheran Congregation of Revda, Murmansk Oblast, hosted a diaconal seminar which gathered church members from Murmansk, Lovozero, and Revda and provided a chance to reconnect with friends in Norway online. The seminar was held by Dobriye serdtsa, a charity foundation for social aid. The goal of the seminar was to encourage the people to do diaconal ministry, see opportunities, and develop plans for the near future.Part of the seminar’s cultural program was a trip to Lovozero to see a Sámi goahti, a traditional living tent of the Sámi, an indigenous Finno-Ugric people inhabiting northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Kola Peninsula within the Murmansk Oblast of Russia. The guests learned more about the history of the Sámi and their traditions and were treated to the Sámi cuisine – reindeer meat and the Sámi deer soup. Sister Svetlana Sedneva sang part of the hymn “You Deserve The Glory” in the Sámi language.
