On April 8, 2021, the Lutheran Congregation of Petrozavodsk hosted a clergy meeting of the ELCIR Karelian and Northern Deaneries with the participation of ELCIR Bishop Ivan Laptev. The meeting gathered senior pastors of the congregations in Petrozavodsk, Kondopoga, Pitkyaranta, Läskelä, Rabocheostrovsk, Segezha, Sodder, Sortavala as well as workers of the ELCIR Headquarters from St. Petersburg (Children & Youth, Diaconal, and Mission Depts.), and a pastor from Luga.
After a communion service, Bishop Laptev presented several examples of effective mission work in the ELCIR congregations situated in various localities, such as cities, villages, and sparsely populated areas. The bishop’s Bile study “Indifference toward the Church in the Modern World” was live-streamed in the VK group of the Petrozavodsk Congregation. Other speakers were Oleg Belezhenko, diaconal ministry development coordinator, and Nikolai Minenkov, head of the ELCIR Children & Youth Dept.
