Update on Dobriye serdtsa (“Kind Hearts”) Social Aid Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Murmansk, Northwest Russia. Director: Anna Volchok.
From the beginning of November through the end of December, the Foundation implements the Pomogi blizhnemu (“Help Your Neighbor!”) project. This project will include three activities.
1. Organize and distribute food packages in Murmansk, Lovozero, and Revda. We plan to assemble and distribute more than 100 packages for the worth of more than 100,000 rubles. We plan to involve volunteers to do the distribution. Time of the activity: late November. The goal is to broaden our volunteer network, aid the especially needy segments of the population, and visit the lonely.
2. Organize and hold a seminar (December 4-6) with representatives from Murmansk, Lovozero, Revda, and Kandalaksha, with volunteers involved in the first activity. The goal is to train and involve new people in diaconal (social) ministry. Work out a vision of ministry in each region.
3. Organize and distribute Christmas gifts to children and to adult recipients (more need-specific and individual aid) based on received information about the recipients and the knowledge learned during the seminar. We plan to distribute no less than 100 gifts in all of the regions where the Foundation’s volunteers serve (Lovozero, Revda, Kandalaksha). Time: mid and late December.
