On October 13, Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia in Moscow hosted a meeting of the LWF National Committee in the Russian Federation.The Lutheran World Federation is a large global communion of national and regional Lutheran churches.
Currently, the LWF consists of 148 member churches in 99 countries, representing 66.7 million Lutherans.
Bishop Ivan Laptev and Moscow Region Dean Valeri Antipov represented The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia was represented by Archbishop Dietrich Brauer and Head of ELCER Administration Viktor Weber.
The meeting parties discussed current aspects of the churches’ ministries and interaction and approved the text of a joint statement which will soon be published in our media.
The ecclesiastics agreed on the following plans together:
– organizing theological colloquia;
– coordinating administrative matters;
– developing joint ministries.
