Last week, a delegation from The Church of Ingria visited the Administration of the Union of Helsinki Congregations where they learned about the new ministry strategy of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. Also, the guests from Russia visited the city’s modern and vibrant Kallio Congregation and its leadership, and also talked and shared experiences with Dean Jukka Nevala, senior pastor of the Vantaa Congregation.
At the Union’s administration office, they met with Archbishop Tapio Luoma of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, and Bishop Seppo Häkkinen of the Diocese of Mikkeli. Bishop Ivan Laptev of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria gave an interview to Yle Radio. Rev. Heikki Jääskeläinen guided the guests on a tour of Helsinki where they visited the Senate Square during the ringing of the bells, watched the lighting of 105 candles commemorating the end of the Winter War, and visited a museum display about The Church of Ingria.
More details on the trip will be forthcoming. For now, a photo gallery.
