The Synod of The Church of Ingria consists of 34 representatives (10 ordained ministers, 24 laypersons). The powers of the current members of the Synod expire on August 31, 2020, after which the new members of the Synod will be in power for 4 years.
According to the information from the Bishop’s Office, the new membership of the Synod will be formed as follows:
– Congregations which send a lay representative to the Synod this time according to the quota shall elect the representative at their General Meeting or Meeting of Commissioners (according as the Congregation’s Charter directs). The Synodal Council has distributed the quotas as follows: a lay representative in 2020 shall be sent to the Synod by Gatchina, Kuzyomkino, Kingisepp, Luga, Skvoritsy, Kem, Murmansk, Petrozavodsk, Ruskeala, Segezha, Tver, Shchyokino, Novye Burasy, St. Anne’s Church in St. Petersburg, Primorsk, St. Mary’s Cathedral, St. Michael’s Church in St. Petersburg, Toksovo, Yukki, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Yoshkar-Ola, Kazan, Saransk.
– Deanery Meetings shall elect ordained representatives to the Synod (two each from the St. Petersburg, Karelian, and Uralic Deaneries, one each from the West Ingrian, Moscow, Volga, and Siberian Deaneries.)
– Each dean shall approve the list of his deanery’s ordained and lay representatives to the Synod and submit it to the Bishop’s Council by August 27, 2020.
