The recent ordination of new deacons in The Church of Ingria has become the focus of a material published at a Finnish website, kotimaa24.fi. Bishop Seppo Häkkinen of Mikkeli believes that the ordination of Finnish citizens as deacons of The Church of Ingria does not constitute any problems for The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland because the ordination was performed in order to help The Church of Ingria which is experiencing an acute shortage of ministers. However, in Bishop Häkkinen’s opinion, it is important to foster closer communication between the church bodies.
